 Stuart Hall's representation Media companies create a preferred meaning trough the way they represent certain stories, they can make a story present, absent or different depending on how much they want people to see it. This means they have the power to make people love or hate someone depending on how they show them. This means they can create an idealised version of the story that will match their ideology and convert people to it. This is also done through stereotypes. For example a story about the royal family doing something bad might be present in a left wing newspaper like The Guardian but might be different or even absent in the Daily Mail. Radiohead The band was started in 1985 and was originally called 'On A Friday' until 1991 when it was picked up by EMI records and changed its name to Radiohead. It consists of 5 members Thom Yorke, Johnny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, Ed O'Brien and Philip Selway. Then in 1992 they released their first single 'Creep' which was a hit. In 1995 they released the album 'Ok Computer' which encouraged their fans to discuss it online. In 2001 they left their label EMI to go independent which allowed them to make whatever they want. In 2016 they evaporated their social media presence. They gave away their album 'Rainbows' for free and people still paid for it. They are known for having a pretentious and constantly interacting fan base that constantly discuss the meanings of their songs. The original 1967 Jungle Book   It is regarded as Disney’s most troubled film and took 4 years to make which meant that Walt Disney died a year before its release. Budget for the original was 4 million dollars but had a 378 million worldwide box office. 6.8 million of which is from Germany making it the highest grossing film in Germany. Made 100 times its budget back.  The trailer for the movie was long with a lot of plot and presented itself as a marvel of animation and comedy, it was a breakthrough and wanted to show it off which is conventional of trailers at the time.  The original script that was written by Bill Peet but was scrapped for being too dark and scary and Peet was fired in 1964. News is how it is present and is not always the truth. News outlets have rules that need to be followed about what is published so Twitter allows freedom of speech without guidelines. News reporters are held accountable for wrong information with lots of checks for all newspapers even The Sun. This can make it a more reliable source than social media which doesn't get fact checks. Stereotypes can be used by the news to force specific opinions and to associate certain feelings and opinions with groups. This allows them to create a more black and white sense of morality when it comes to groups of people they like or dislike. For example while soldiers are presented as heroes, people on benefits are presented as scroungers. This enforces an us vs them dynamic with groups like immigrants who are constantly antagonised by newspapers like The Sun.
